Our project

Different classes and courses at the Städtisches Adolf-Weber-Gymnasium are trying to find out what seems to be typical of the baroque period in Germany and in how far it still seems to influence our modern times.

In biology, a small group of pupils works on  "Maria Sibylla Merian – an early German scientist", a highly fascinating woman who travelled the world for her studies.

In mathematics,  we present  "Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz – biographical dates and mathematical studies".

In physics, we examine a replica of Galilei`s study in the Deutsches Museum in  "Galileo Galilei in the Deutsches Museum, Munich".

"Galileo Galilei´s measuring methods" are shown in a thesis written by a student who is doing her A-levels.

In a German literature class, baroque poems are analysed in "Vanitas – poems by Andreas Gryphius".

In another literature class, we deal with love poems – then and now:   "Baroque love poetry goes hiphop" and also offer an audio version of a modern poem in the baroque manner.

"Munich architecture – from Nymphenburg Castle to Olympic Stadion" offers a presentation of different modes of  pompous representation.

Baroque monuments in Munich are photographed with a digital camera and presented to you in  "Architecture digitalised".

Yes, we do understand Latin: in "Latin inscriptions" we decode inscriptions on Munich monuments.

In "Baroque Art" different aspects take shape: We illustrate a baroque poem, paint a still life in the baroque manner and compare paintings.

Bach Year 2000: we honour our maestro in "Johann Sebastian Bach" .

A collection of some interesting aspects of baroque influences on today`s life are presented in "Variations of baroque topics".

And, last but not least, a trip to the ancient monastery in Ottobeuren will show you a living baroque residence in Bavaria: "Kloster Ottobeuren".
